Hi Readers,
On today's topic I am going to blog about my views on Kambala ban.

Kambala: It is not only the ancient times sports, it is the most celebrated sports in Dakshina Kannada, Karnataka.
A pair of buffaloes are tied to the plough and one person anchors it. He beats the buffalo pair so that they run faster and to control the buffaloes.
The racing tracks are normally about 120 to 160 meters in length and 8 to 12 meters in width.
Tracks are made into a muddy field with water. Which softens the floor bed allowing the soft run to the buffaloes.
When:
Kambala events starts in November and continues to entertain the crowd until March.
Why:
Kambala is the festival started in the farming community of Karnataka which was 800 years ago. This festival is dedicated to lord Kadri Manjunatheshwara, Mangalore. It is ritual of thanking god for the good harvest for that season.
Where:
The event will be held in coastal part of Karnataka. Kundapur, Udupi and Mangalore areas.
Prize:
The winner buffalo pair will be awarded with gold and silver coins along with the trophies.
Fact:
As we all normally witness, buffaloes look very lazy animal. Looking at their speed it forces us to think they are in deed lazy animals.
But matter of fact is, they run no less than Usain Bolt. Which you can witness in live buffalo race.
Coming to the matter of concern? Does this sport should be banned?
Well, these buffaloes will be treated royally before the race. They are provided with the healthy food available making them strong.
There is a place in Udupi, where the buffaloes are accommodated with the AC, swimming pool and all the hi tech facilities. Which is amazing to see.
The sport is an ancient one making the rich cultural heritage of Karnataka. This is not just any sport.
Banning this sport will definitely please people who want to do so, but it hurts the feelings of all those who carried out this culture since decades.
Let's respect the emotions of all the coastal people and let's save the culture for our next generation.
Let's save Kambala.
Thank you,
Your's,
Rahul Shetty
